The one channel every plan gets, no setup required

Delivered through the same transactional mailer that already sends invites and password resets; nothing to configure beyond the address itself.

Nothing to authorize, nothing to configure

An email rule's target is just an email address. There's no webhook URL to generate and no external provider account to create: the app's own mailer (the same one that sends account invites and password resets) delivers it, so it works the moment a rule is saved.

That's also why it's the one channel available on every plan without exception: it costs this app nothing extra to send, the same reason Slack and webhook delivery are free to every plan too.

A spike alert email for the Checkout API's payment gateway timeouts, subject Needs attention: Payments::GatewayTimeout on Checkout API. It shows the endpoint POST /api/checkout, 12 customers affected, 21 failures, and the error rate up 300 percent, when it started, what changed (deploy f7c2d91, PR #5132 by Alex Morgan, and a flag, dependency, and config change), the likely cause, deployment f7c2d91 at 90 percent confidence with its evidence (deployed 5 minutes before, and it changed charge_service.rb, which is in every failing stack trace) and marked not a confirmed cause, the next step, and an Investigate in ForgeOps button with links to the pull request, the deploy comparison, and the trace

What actually lands in an inbox when a rule fires.
